The program seeks to provide additional assistance for Norman small businesses and non-profits that have been negatively impacted due to COVID-19. Applications for grants up to $10,000 will be accepted December 4 through December 28 and must be turned in in-person or via mail.

Norman City Council voted unanimously to allocate $1 million of the City of Norman’s CARES Act reimbursement funds to establish a Small Business and Non-Profit Relief Grant at their Tuesday meeting.

The grant is intended to assist local small businesses and non-profit organizations that suffered due to the unforeseen circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will award grants up to $10,000 to eligible entities.

“Our small businesses and non-profits make Norman the unique community that residents and visitors alike enjoy. This past year we’ve asked so much of our small businesses and non-profits in order to keep our residents safe during these difficult times. I’m excited that we have the opportunity to offer them support as we continue our battle against COVID-19,” said Mayor Breea Clark.

The application is open to both for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations with 35 employees or less that are locally owned and managed, and located within Norman city limits. Additional qualifications are detailed on the first page of the application. Grants recipients will be selected through a blind ranking system based on information provided in the application. Additional supporting documentation may be requested before awards are distributed.

Applications will be accepted in person from 8 a.m. December 4 through 5 p.m. December 28 at the City Manager’s Office, 201 W. Gray Street or via mail to the same address. Mailed applications must be postmarked by December 28 at the latest.

The application can be downloaded from the City’s website at www.NormanOK.gov or copies may be picked up in the City Clerk’s office at 201 West Gray. All applications submitted within the window will be reviewed.
